Jurnal Sosiologi Andalas is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Laboratory of Sociology, Departement of Sociology, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Andalas, Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia.  This journal aims to facilitate academic discussion about relevant sociological issues, especially on conflict and community development for an inclusive society, which includes organization, extractive industry, multicultural society, sustainable economic management of natural resources and extractive industry, community empowerment, community resilience, family and social transformation, cultural transformation and new media, education and social transformation, development policy analysis and social movement.

Jurnal Sosiologi Andalas was developed from a journal published by the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Andalas University. In the early '90s, the Department of Sociology published the journal which was titled “Jurnal Pembangunan dan Perubahan Sosial” and Dr. Alfan Miko as editor in chief. It was a print journal only. In the early 2000s, the journal was renamed “Jurnal Sigai” and Dr. Emeraldy Chatra was appointed as the editor in chief. It was still a print journal only. Finally, in 2012, the “Jurnal Sigai” changed its name to “Jurnal Sosiologi Andalas” and Prof. Afrizal is the editor in chief.  In 2015, this journal has transformed from a print journal to an online journal.
