Jurnal Sosiologi Andalas

Jurnal Sosiologi Andalas (Andalas Journal of Sociology) is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Laboratorium Sosiologi, Departement of Sociology, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Andalas. The word "andalas" is the other name for the island of Sumatra, and it is also the name of a plant in West Sumatra. This journal aims to facilitate academic discussion about relevant issues sociologically, especially on conflict and commuity development for inclusive society. 

Jurnal Sosiologi Andalas was development from a journal which published by the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Andalas University. In the early 90's, the Department of Sociology published the journal was called “Jurnal Pembangunan dan Perubahan Sosial” and Dr. Alfan Miko as editor in chief. It has category as print journal. Then, In the early 2000s, the journal was renamed to “Jurnal Sigai” and Dr Emeraldy Chatra as editor in chief. It still has category as print journal. Finally, in 2012, the “Jurnal Sigai” changed its name to “Jurnal Sosiologi Andalas” and Prof. Afrizal as editor in chief. In 2015, This journal have transformation from print journal to online journal.
