Focus and Scope
Jurnal Sosiologi Andalas is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Sociology Laboratory, Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Andalas, Indonesia.
The journal provides a scholarly forum for advancing sociological knowledge on social conflict and community empowerment in the Global South, with particular attention to their relationships with inequality, gender, development, social change, and the creation of inclusive and resilient societies.
The journal encourages theoretically informed and empirically grounded studies that examine the causes, dynamics, consequences, prevention, management, and resolution of social conflicts, as well as processes and strategies through which individuals, groups, and communities develop their capacities, agency, resilience, and access to resources.
While its primary geographical focus is the Global South, the journal welcomes comparative and transnational studies that connect experiences in the Global South with broader sociological debates. Particular attention is given to societies and communities experiencing rapid social, economic, political, cultural, and environmental transformations.
Jurnal Sosiologi Andalas welcomes original research articles as well as theoretical and methodological articles that contribute to sociological understanding of conflict, empowerment, gender relations, and social transformation.

Through these areas, Jurnal Sosiologi Andalas seeks to strengthen sociological scholarship from and about the Global South, particularly scholarship that explains how conflicts emerge and are addressed, how gender and other forms of inequality shape social relations, how communities exercise agency and develop their capacities, and how these processes contribute to social justice, resilience, inclusion, and social transformation.
